As far as I am aware I am the only person who makes art in this way. I studied painting and drawing, and then textile design at art school. My process is a fusion of these disciplines that has evolved over the last 40 years.
My favourite subjects are storms, reflections in water, skies and the landscape in which I live and work.
This piece was made using sketches and photographs from a hiking trip on the Isle of Skye. We walked 20km a day and stayed each night in a different mountain bothy (shepherds hut) which are in very very remote places. This was my first trip to Scotland and I was in awe of the majesty of the landscape, the night skies which were devoid of light pollution, and the remoteness of the bothies. It was as if you could have been at any time in history! We chose to move to rural France, but we seriously considered the Isle of Skye – it is a bucket list place I will never forget and I have made many pictures from that trip!
Multiple layers (52 in all!) of watercolour pencil were applied to both the front and reverse of a translucent fabric, and then blended with a fine brush, giving a 3 dimensional quality to the finished watercolour. I then use machine embroidery to highlight and enhance areas of the piece – literally drawing again as if the needle was a pencil, which gives further depth to the completed image.

My pieces are supplied mounted with quality mounting board of a colour that best shows the work (in this case ivory). The mount is standard sized so you can choose your own off the shelf frame.

Purchase of an original artwork DOES NOT transfer the copyright. The artist Nell Ticehurst reserves the right to create printed reproductions of her original artworks for sale, and to use them for advertising purposes, social media, and on her website where they will be marked ???sold ??? in private collection???.
Yes we can! The card can feature a hand written message of your choosing in French, German or English. Items are wrapped in plain white tissue paper and finished with brown high quality woven cotton ribbons. To select gift wrapping choose the option at checkout. An extra fee does apply.
The large majority of our stock appears on our website but we always have more listing to do! There is a chance that we may have different items and quantities than those that are listed here immediately available from stock. We also keep tabs on a lot of outlets in our local areas and also have quite a network of colleagues throughout Western Europe, so we may be able to help source your special requirements. If you would like us to keep an eye out for something or source an item just let us know what you are after and your budget and we will let you know promptly if we can help.
Yes you can! We have previously been happy to loan items for film shoots, television shows, photo shoots, shop openings, weddings and corporate events. For example, you may have seen items we have supplied at Disneyland Paris, in The Americans TV series, and many shows produced at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. Terms are negotiable but we usually ask for full payment for the item and then refund 50% upon return of the items to us within a year. Obviously items need to be returned in the condition they were sent out in. Customers will be responsible for initial and return transit costs and any damage incurred whilst in use or in return transit.
We operate a love it, or return it, no quibble, full refund policy. We appreciate that things sometimes do not fit in or suit quite as expected, and as a result we are happy to provide refunds due to the very nature of online shopping. Buyers will be responsible for all transit costs as we cannot claim these back. To qualify simply let us know you wish to return an item within two weeks of receipt.
Sorry. We no longer offer lay-away or take reservation deposits from new customers due to the high number of customers who failed to return to complete their purchase. Even after they paid a 20% deposit! Account holding customers who have made purchases in the past can reserve items for a 20% non-refundable deposit. Items can be reserved for three months.
We are based in Normandy in France. Most of our stock is dispatched from France. Personal collection can be arranged from our office in Normandy. Ask for details.

We have shipped thousands of items worldwide via tracked and insured postage services. Signed for services are also available at an extra premium. You can find out postage costs by using the Postage Calculator on product pages or alternatively postage costs will be displayed as you approach checkout. We give significant automatic postage discounts on multiple item orders at checkout with customers only paying postage for the heaviest item they buy.
Postage and packing costs on our own website are subsidised by us and cheaper than postage charges in our shops on Etsy and Ebay where we have to pay seller fees. Postage prices on our other third party selling venues reflect the actual cost of sending items and do not include multiple item purchase postage discounts on heavier items.
Items are usually dispatched within one working day. They typically arrive with customers 3-10 working days (up to 2 weeks) after dispatch. We cannot guarantee any shipping times as we rely on assorted third parties for transit and cross border services. All items are sent fully tracked and insured against loss and breakage in transit.

Multiple item purchases have postage discounts applied at checkout with customers only paying postage fees for the heaviest item they purchase. The rest are sent free. For example if you buy ten items you only pay postage for the heaviest single item.
